There is a story about a rather simply but actually quite clever new dating app making the usual rounds this week. It’s called, ‘The Grade’. Here is the are the basics about this new dating app.
What it does: “The Grade”, dating app basically edits your communications. Which while it maybe clever I am not sure how earth shattering that really is.
Basically what makes it, ‘news’ as we understand it is the fact that the dating app gives you a grade based on an internal message scoring system that penalizes you for either misspelled words or vulgar comments to your prospective dates.
Yes, most apps do have a block feature as do most dating sites. Hint, hint.
Since the app first allows sending messages the block feature of another app and a grade feature seem a bit archaic or perhaps better said redundant.
What it costs: It’s 100% free for now.
Where can you get it: You can download it here from the Apple app store.
Madeline Stone at BusinessInsider.com has a more detailed story on the new app here.
My take: Yes it is true some guys are still cavemen and send either rude or vulgar comments to women on dating sites. These guys need to learn that is not acceptable behavior and this behavior can have far-reaching consequences. Point taken, clever way to capture the sentiment a package that into a vanilla app. Relevant apps with a large enough user base to justify you downloading them though already monitor this and may follow suit with similar features. If this app makes it very far than dating apps with much larger user bases will introduce something similar or take more steps to monitor emails and prevent such messages from being delivered.
However, calling it a ‘grading system’ might not have traction on a more widely used app, but that’s just my opinion. The app is available for the iPhone but not at this time for Android powered devices. Lastly, here are the latest online dating app reviews.
